Downtown LA

Not that long ago, people from out of town wouldn't have thought to visit Downtown Los Angeles because there wasn't much to do there.  The city center was going through a rough time with lots of tall modern buildings and empty shops.  But things have changed a lot since then!  Downtown is getting better with more shops, important buildings, and places to eat. It's becoming a nicer place to walk around and easier to get to with the Metro.  Explore areas like Bunker Hill and the Historic Core for museums, great food, and cool buildings.

1.   Check out the infinity mirrors at the Broad.

The Broad museum in Downtown is famous for its Infinity Mirror Rooms by artist Yayoi Kusama. You can reserve a spot to experience them. The museum is free and also has over 2,000 artworks from after World War II, featuring artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Ed Ruscha, Cindy Sherman, Barbara Kruger.

2.  Feel like you're in "Blade Runner" at the Bradbury Building.

When you enter this old brick building, you'll see a beautiful alley filled with light, made of wood, iron, and brick. Most of what you can see is on the first floor (and a little bit up some stairs) because the rest of the building is used as offices. It's the oldest commercial building in Downtown, built in 1893. If you're a fan of movies, you might recognize the zigzagging stairs from a famous scene in "Blade Runner."

3.   Experience adventure at Union Station.

Trains have been popular, then not so much, but Union Station still looks as good as when it first opened. Its outside looks like a Mission-style building, and inside, there's a big waiting area with fancy marble floors, wooden ceilings that look like real wood, and stylish Art Deco decorations. If you explore inside, you'll discover a place full of stories from the past, movement, and soon, new things like faster trains and a new part of the station.
